Peptide Solutions

Peptides supplied already in solution at a stated concentration, rather than as a dry solid to be reconstituted. The trade is a known concentration and no reconstitution step, against a shorter effective shelf life and a cold-chain requirement.

What a solution product is

A solution product is a peptide already dissolved in a carrier at a defined mass per unit volume — the concentration, stated on every listing in this category in the form of milligrams per millilitre. Both the concentration and the total net quantity are given, because those are different numbers and both are needed: one determines what a given volume delivers, the other determines how much material was purchased.

The listings here are supplied in metered pump bottles, so a dispensed volume is repeatable without transferring the whole contents.

Solution versus lyophilized

A solution removes the reconstitution step, and with it the two most common sources of concentration error in practice: an inaccurate solvent volume, and incomplete dissolution of a cake that looked dissolved.

What it costs is stability. A peptide in solution is more exposed to hydrolysis, oxidation and adsorption onto container surfaces than the same peptide as a dry solid, so a solution has a shorter working life and a stricter storage requirement. Where material will be held for a long period before use, the lyophilized form of the same compound is generally the better purchase.

Cold chain and handling

Solutions in this category are stored refrigerated at 2–8 °C, protected from light, and are not frozen. Freezing a peptide solution risks precipitation and concentration change on thawing, and repeated freeze–thaw cycling is worse than either.

Because a cold chain has to be maintained on the way to the laboratory as well as inside it, transit time is a real variable for this class — which is the practical case for local delivery where it is available.

Research use

Materials in this category are supplied for laboratory research applications only. They are not intended for human or veterinary use, consumption, diagnosis, treatment, cure or prevention of disease. No listing on this site describes a use, a dose, a route of administration or an outcome, and support answers questions on identity, specification and analytical documentation only.

Ordering requires a verified research account and acceptance of the research use agreement. Specifications and prices are readable without one.
